A Rumor We Can Confirm

The rumors you’ve heard are true! Innovations in home heating are here and ready to keep your home comfortably heated! Flat panel radiant heaters are used to heat objects via radiant heat transfer. These radiant heaters have traditionally been used in a variety of industries and applications. Some of these applications include space heating, drying, curing, and water evaporation. More recently, these heating systems are also gaining popularity in home heating applications as well.

Radiant heaters use different types of emitter surfaces. Choices include: quartz, high-temperature glass, stainless steel, and ceramic tiles. These are all materials that are easily and efficiently used in home applications such as flooring, countertops, and towel racks. Because these items are easily turned into emitter surfaces for radiant heat, they can easily and beautifully be incorporated into home heating applications such as heated floors, walls, and towel racks.

The Choice is Yours

Did you know that radiant floor heating is one of the most comfortable ways to heat your home. As opposed to forced air heating, which heats the air, radiant heat heats objects such as your floor. This increases the level of comfortability in your home because the heat is distributed at the floor level where we are usually cold, and gets cooler toward our head area, which is usually too hot. Because radiant floor heating distributes the heat in this manner, the comfortability of your home is increased. No more cold feet!

Another benefit of radiant floor heating is that it can be used for nearly any floor area. Areas such as concrete, tile, hardwood, carpet, and even linoleum can all benefit from radiant floor heating. Even if you live in an existing home, radiant floor heating can be retrofitted, in most cases, to your existing floors.

Whether you’re building a new home, or remodeling your existing home, radiant floor heating is a great way to add comfort and efficiency to the rooms in your home that are traditionally hard to heat.

Coming Soon to Your TV: Radiant Heat

Having toasty toes in the bathroom on a cold wintry morning is one of life’s little pleasures, and Warmzone is happy to make that possible with radiant floor heating products. This season, you’ll see Warmzone’s radiant floor heating on ABC-TV’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.”

Warmzone enjoyed being able to give back to the community, and was happy to donate heated tiles, part of the radiant floor heating products, to the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition team for the Ray-Smith family of Maine. The family – who was chosen by ABC for a total home renovation — were in debt from school and medical bills. To save money, they moved into a family home in Maine built by Mrs. Ray-Smith’s great-great grandparents. However, the home was in severe disrepair: the foundation was cracking, there was no insulation, and the electrical wiring was unsafe. And a harsh Maine winter is coming!

Warmzone’s contribution to the heating solution was heated tile that kept costs down, was simple to operate, and is maintenance-free. “The heated tile should help keep heating costs down and keep the family warm during cold Maine nights. Warmzone is glad to participate with Extreme Home Makeover and countless volunteers. We hope the Ray-Smith family — both living and not — are enjoying a safe and comfortable home,” says Tracy Stanger, President and CEO of Warmzone.

Radiant Floor Heating Tip: A heated tile thermostat with an in-floor sensor can regulate the temperature on many radiant floor heating systems.

Fighting Allergies in Your Home

It’s nearing epidemic levels now. Allergies and asthma affect at least 60 million Americans in one way or another, generally making the sufferers rather miserable. Many allergy and asthma experts will advise certain changes in housekeeping habits to help alleviate allergy- or asthma-causing conditions in your home. In addition, you might consider changing your heat source to radiant heaters.

Perhaps you initially thought that radiant heaters couldn’t possibly be such a simple solution to helping keep your home healthy. But the truth is that radiant heaters improve the air quality, which is especially important for anyone who suffers from either dust allergies or asthma. Not having to change air filters or clean heating ducts should also cut down dramatically on dust or other allergens in your home’s air.

You probably also know that eliminating dust mites that live in your home would also go a long way towards helping keep your home healthy. Since dust mites love a warm moist environment, towel heaters and other radiant heater systems aid in maintaining a consistent room temperature and keep it moisture-free…and dust mite-free, too. Furthermore, mold and mildew are also caused from excessive moisture especially in bathrooms with insufficient ventilation.

Radiant Heater Tip: Something as simple as placing radiant heaters or a radiant heat towel rack in the bathroom can combat the spread of germs for only pennies a day.

You’ll Love This

We all can agree that, on a cold winter morning, nobody likes to step out of bed or the shower onto a freezing cold floor. That’s why so many are opting for radiant floor heating systems to warm up their floors.

Delivering heat by air makes it easy to escape and increase your overall heat loss. Conversely, through radiant floor heating, the evenly distributed radiant heat allows homeowners to turn down the thermostat two to four degrees. This can reduce energy costs by 10-40% and can be verified with your local utility company. This setback to your thermostat can happen because a radiant floor heats from the ground up and delivers the heat through objects not air. This makes the lowest three feet of your home the most comfortable where a forced air system loses its heat to the ceiling and is required to heat from the top down.

Believe it or not, the installation of radiant floor heating is not a new development in the housing industry. Heated floors have been installed under bathroom and kitchen tile in the United States for the past 10 years and the warming products continue to gain popularity.

Radiant Floor Heating Tip: Many in the kitchen and bath industry anticipate that radiant floor heating to continue to play a big role among homeowners who crave comfort features.

This Might Surprise You…

You might be surprised to learn what a wide diversity of applications radiant heaters can be used in, an added bonus to its affordability and efficiency. Radiant heaters can be used in a number of applications, including in tiled areas, hardwood flooring, carpeted areas, cement floors, basements, and garages.

You see, radiant heaters are a type of heater that warms objects instead of air. Radiant heat uses objects, such as the floor, to heat a home. The air in the room is warmed when it comes into contact with the warmed objects. Heat loss is reduced and the radiant heat remains in the lower part of the room, warmer near feet level and slightly less so at head level, creating the perfect climate for comfort.

In today’s housing market, it’s not a bad idea to add value to your home in new and innovative ways. For example, don’t just think about renovating a bathroom, consider using radiant heaters to warm towel racks in the bathroom, or a heated floor. Can you think of anything cozier on a chilly winter morning than toasty toes when you step out of the shower?

Radiant Heaters Tip: No matter whether you’re building a new home from the ground up or updating your current home, you owe it to yourself to check out the comfort that radiant heat has to offer.
