In these tumultous real estate times, many homeowners are looking to renovate or otherwise improve their current homes rather than house-hunting. For those homeowners just starting out on a home improvement or renovation project, large or small, we think it’s worth looking into what radiant floor heating can do for you and your home.
You’ll soon find that there’s a multitude of uses for radiant floor heating in homes. Bathrooms, kitchens and entryways are ideals places to incorporate radiant heat. Tile, marble, slate, and even hardwood are floor coverings that are cold to step onto with bare feet during winter or summer. A radiant heat product can be installed under these surfaces throughout the home and take the cold bite out of these areas. Just think: you’ll never have cold floors or feet again!
But that’s not all. People often comment to us that another area of the home that radiant floor heating makes sense in is your basement. Basements are one of the top requested areas to add radiant heat. Due to the fact that forced air systems heat air and hot air rises the basement is usually the living space that remains cold. New construction is the best time to add radiant heat to a basement.
Radiant Floor Heating Tip: The fact is that whether you’re building a new home, or remodeling your existing home, radiant floor heating is a great way to add comfort and efficiency to the rooms in your home that are traditionally hard to heat.

Having toasty toes in the bathroom on a cold wintry morning is one of life’s little pleasures, and Warmzone is happy to make that possible with radiant floor heating products. This season, you’ll see Warmzone’s radiant floor heating on ABC-TV’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
Warmzone enjoyed being able to give back to the community, and was happy to donate heated tiles, part of the radiant floor heating products, to the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition team for the Ray-Smith family of Maine. The family – who was chosen by ABC for a total home renovation — were in debt from school and medical bills. To save money, they moved into a family home in Maine built by Mrs. Ray-Smith’s great-great grandparents. However, the home was in severe disrepair: the foundation was cracking, there was no insulation, and the electrical wiring was unsafe. And a harsh Maine winter is coming!
Warmzone’s contribution to the heating solution was heated tile that kept costs down, was simple to operate, and is maintenance-free. “The heated tile should help keep heating costs down and keep the family warm during cold Maine nights. Warmzone is glad to participate with Extreme Home Makeover and countless volunteers. We hope the Ray-Smith family — both living and not — are enjoying a safe and comfortable home,” says Tracy Stanger, President and CEO of Warmzone.
Radiant Floor Heating Tip: Not only is radiant floor heating more comfortable, but the costs of operating radiant floor heating systems are often reported to be significantly decreased as compared to other residential heating options.

Everyone has a few “cold spots” in your home in the wintertime, right? Areas – maybe the upstairs hallway, guest bathroom, kitchen, or (heaven forbid) one of the family bedrooms – that just can’t get or stay warm? Such cold spot problems are easily solved with radiant floor heating.
Maybe you thought you couldn’t enjoy radiant floor heating because you have carpeted or tiled floors. But did you know that one bonus to radiant floor heating is that it can be installed under almost any type of flooring, including tile, hardwood, carpet, and marble. The products you’d need to install the heating would be dependant upon what type of flooring you’d be installing it under.
One of the most popular products for radiant floor heating is Danfoss LX heating mats. The Danfoss LX Mats include a red heating cable woven into an adhesive-backed fiberglass mesh that allows for simple roll-out installation without worrying about heating cable spacing. The floor warming mats are pre-terminated for use with 120 and 240 volts, and are available in various lengths of 24″ widths to accommodate any room’s layout. The Danfoss LX tile floor warming mats emit no measurable electromagnetic fields due to the shielded dual conductor design. This dual conductor cable requires only one cold lead connection making it easy to layout and install.

When the project is your own home, it takes on an extra bit of importance to get everything right, down to the heating. For homebuilders or renovators alike, there are a multitude of uses for radiant floor heating in homes. Bathrooms, kitchens and main entryways are ideals places to incorporate radiant heat. Tile, marble, slate, and even hardwood are floor coverings that are cold to step onto with bare feet during winter or summer. A radiant heat product can be installed under these surfaces throughout the home and take the cold bite out of these areas. Just think: you’ll never have cold floors or feet again!

While it’s not limited only to older homes, you might go to visit family or friends and discover that there are some areas of their homes that are practically freezing while other areas are comfortable and warm. It’s a common problem with traditional heating systems, but is easily solved by installation and use of electric radiant heating systems.
Such electric radiant heating systems can be easily and independently controlled by zone, enabling a homeowner to increase the temperature for defined areas of the home during occupancy and conversely allows a particular zone to remain off during down times. It might remind you of a programmable thermostat on traditional heating systems. It is similar to that, but actually far more efficient and controllable.
Use of electric radiant heat systems not only saves the homeowner money, it gives complete control to efficiently warm your most used living spaces without fearing an enormous utility bill at the end of the month.
Electric Radiant Heat Tip: The radiant consultants and designers at Warmzone have been trained in all of the latest heating systems to properly assess your project and prescribe a system that will add value to your home inside of your budget.
